Medical doctor, integrative and holistic practitioner, change maker.
I have worked in the NHS for over 10 years and value the advances and gifts that modern medicine has provided. However, I always felt that there was a missing piece in the jigsaw. After a series of life’s twists and turns and a diagnosis of Cancer in my 20s, this feeling grew stronger and I retrained in the mind/body approaches that had helped me to heal.
I am a certified Breathwork, Meditation, Reiki and EFT/Matrix imprinting practitioner and am training in Integrative Medicine, a field which beautifully and safely weaves complementary modalities with scientific, medical knowledge. I bridge the gap between modern and ancient wisdom, complementary and conventional medicine and believe this blend can restore the body to synchrony and balance, as imbalance is the root cause of most modern ailments.
I work 1:1 in a personalised, trauma-informed way using my extensive medical training to inform my delivery of the above complementary modalities. I see people who seek an integrative/holistic approach in exploring these mind/body practices. I help people identify blocks and to understand and unlock their own innate healing potential to foster post-traumatic growth.
Having experienced my own burnout, I am committed to workplace wellbeing and offer workshops. I especially feel that our care givers and healers, who give so much in their roles, are in desperate need of their own healing and often work with these clients.
My Journey…
What led me here, is a series of rollercoaster life events in the last decade and the journeys that these have subsequently taken me on.
The main catalyst being my own experience of cancer in my early 20s, during medical school.
Whilst I am a firm believer and advocate for the modern medicine and science that saved my life and CURED me, it was the alternative/holistic practices that I discovered afterwards, that HEALED me and put me back together. I felt our healthcare system paid little attention to the post-traumatic recovery on a psycho-emotional level and I learnt first-hand the impact that this can have.
So, I became my own guide; researching, learning and subsequently training in holistic modalities. My own experience has shown me that there is huge power in integrating modern medicine with ancient holistic healing modalities and I would love to see this blend in our healthcare system and is something I am working towards through my training in Integrative Medicine.
Following over 10 years in the NHS, and feeling like there was always a missing link, I made the tough decision to take time out. I had burnt out.
Working through the stress of the pandemic was the final straw. It showed us the strength but also the deficiencies of medicine. I had to reimagine my identity as a doctor, which was not easy, and integrate my other passions so that I could support patients and clients in a way I believe in.
I needed to pause, reflect and regroup. I spent time with loved ones around the globe, pursued my interests in holistic healing and dedicated myself to training. I spent time in Mexico where the learning deepened and it all came together.
Knowing what I now know, I wish I could have prevented myself from burnout and ill health, but this has been my major driver to help and support others. I now work part time in the NHS, and offer 1:1 work with clients in mind/body modalities.
Having done the work, I hope to prevent others from going on the long and arduous journey I had to.
